Pang grew up in the historical coastal town of Malacca in Malaysia, and did his undergraduate medical degree at the University of NSW in Sydney. Pang previously worked on the Far South Coast in Bega and in Canberra, where he obtained a certificate in Emergency Medicine and worked at the Rehabilitation Hospital.
